American great Michael Phelps said he is thankful to his retirement life, which has helped him spend quality time with model wife Nicole Johnson and one-year-old son Boomer. Phelps, who won a record 28 Olympic individual medals before announcing his retirement last year, spoke about the challenges he faces as a parent in an interview to Fox News recently.
“We’re very lucky to have a healthy baby boy who is always smiling, always happy and outgoing. It’s something that’s new to Nicole and I, and we’re going through the journey of trying to be the best parents that we could be. I think we’re doing a good job.”

The 31-year-old also spoke about the bond he has with wife Nicole, winner of 2010’s Miss California contest.
“We’re going on 10 years this year that we’ve known each other and been together,” he said. “It’s pretty amazing to add a child into the mix. Nicole and I will work on things together to make sure that Booms has all the best opportunities that he can have, and be able to be the best kid he can.”
