The grade 2, CN Wadia Gold Cup is the feature event of Sunday’s eight-race card at the Mahalaxmi racecourse. However, the current form of the runners fails to decisively answer the question as to who will dominate at the finish.
Take the case of B Fifty Two. The Imtiaz Sait trainee, who shocked on-money Alaindair by a neck when they met last, appears to have an edge at first glance, but the fact that he has been unable to put up a good performance over this trip during his two earlier attempts renders him vulnerable. The Pesi Shroff-trained Commodore, the only other last-outing winner besides B Fifty Two, has also not distinguished himself over the mile-and-a-half trip.
True, Alaindair must have lost more fans when he failed to run a decent race at Bangalore last week after his loss on this track, but the gutsy Jack Frost, and the visiting duo of Veronese and Cameron, who have won over this trip and beyond respectively, will only make the finish more complicated. First race at 2pm.
